The best health & fitness apps


Happy Sunday everyone!
In honor of summer and bikini season coming up (which has been a recurring theme in my last couple of posts) I've decided to share the best health & fitness apps out there with you guys, in case some of you needed some inspiration or motivation. I know these apps sure helped me a lot, so let's get started :)



5K Runner iPhone app review

1. 5K Runner - 19 DKK / $2.99 / £2.49
This is the best running app I've come across so far. It is basically an app that acts like a personal coach. 5K Runner claims that if you spend 35 minutes, 3 times a week on this, you'll be able to go from zero to hero, aka from not running at all to be able to run 5K! How amazing is that?
You run on intervals, which is harder and more intensive than continuous training, hence the faster results. The audio coach will tell you when to walk, run, and when you're halfway. The awesome part is that it works with the music and any GPS app you might have (I'll give you my best bet for the best one further down). Just remember to turn your phone away from silent, and the app will automatically lower the music when it speaks, so that you'll always be able to hear your instructions.
If 5K is not enough for you, they've also made an app for the more hardcore ones called 10K Runner and 21K Runner!


runtastic Squats PRO iPhone app review

2. runtastic Squats - free, or PRO for 7 DKK / $0.99 / £0.69
I know squats look awkward, but honestly, best workout ever for great legs and butt - and who doesn't want that?!
This app will again, act like a personal trainer for you and construct workouts which you can set a reminder for, so that "I forgot" will never become an excuse ever again!
Just hold your phone vertically in front of you when doing the squats, and the app will countdown for you and tell you when, and how long your breaks will be, great right? I think it's great motivation to finish the set when you can see the number left in front of you. For more fun you can made your friends join in and make a deal like the first one to slack on his/hers exercise will buy a round of ice cream/shots/whatever.
Before getting down to it (ha, ha) I would suggest checking out this video for 7 great tips on how to do proper squats so that you won't hurt your knees/neck/back.


All in yoga iPhone app review

3. All-in YOGA - 7 DKK / $0.99 / £0.69
Ahh, yoga. I love, love, love yoga! Is there anything better to start off a weekend with? I always feel so relaxed, happy and content after a good yoga session :)
With this app you can either follow their many ready-made programs or construct your own after taste. Their poses and programs have 4 different levels - beginner, intermediate, advanced, and guru - so if you're a beginner you won't get lost and overwhelmed, and if you're a guru, it won't bore you.
The workout mode comes with timer (that's adjustable), audio and photo. On top of that each pose comes with a video guide and 3D muscle models so you can see how to do a pose correctly and which muscles you're using, how awesome is that?
The only "bad" thing about this app is that for the "Goal" section of the ready-made programs you'll have to pay for a subscription fee, which I find to be ridiculous when I've already paid for the app itself? But don't worry, of course Google is always ready and at your service (for free!) and a quick search will find you many poses that'll help you achieve the goal you want!


Endomondo iPhone app review

4. Endomondo - free, or PRO for 32 DKK / $4.99 / £2.99
And this, my ladies & gentlemen, is my guess of the best GPS running/training app out there! There are way too many functions and if I were to explain it all it'd take me hours.. So bottom line is that it works for walking, running, biking, you name it and will give you lots more information than what you need, as shown in the picture above ;) It also comes with a social twist, where you can see how active your friends have been (and send them real-time peptalks and comments!). There's a news feed in the app to do this, or you can log in to their online community on a computer. The features are endless, so I suggest you jump into it and try it out for yourself!

Wedding Night


Usually, emails are boring.. And for me, this weekend was going to be boring as well, seeing as I had absolutely nothing planned. But then this email popped into my mailbox and suddenly I was super excited, because guess what? One of my favorite chick lit authors has a new book on the shelf, wohoo! The book is called Wedding Night and is penned by Sophie Kinsella. As I'm typing it's being transferred to my Kindle and I just know that this is going to be a good evening.

Yes, you've probably sensed it by now, but I am a self-admitted addict to chick lits, and especially every book Ms. Kinsella pens - she is such a talented writer, and actually makes me laugh out loud while reading. If you don't know of her, maybe the title Confessions of a Shopaholic will ring a bell. If it doesn't, clear your evening (yes, I am aware it's Friday), get the kettle on and start reading because you don't want to miss out on this. You can get the book here and read about her here.

Summer vacation

Happy Wednesday everyone! I hope you're all doing well and having a great week. In my last post I promised that I'd share some more about my summer vacation plans, so here they are.
Maybe you've already guessed from the pictures, but I'll be going to Crete, Milan and then Rome! It's best of both worlds - a little bit beach and a little bit city, right?
Although I've been to Milan and Rome before I was a little girl back then, so I'm very excited to be able to go back! I'm also super excited about Crete, because I've never been there before. Lots of my friends have, and it's a very popular travel destination for Danes, so I have high expectations.. haha :)

Now I'm off for a run since the weather is especially good for Danish standards, so I'll talk to you guys later! xx

Bikini season

I know it's not quite bikini season yet, buuut.. since my summer vacation has just been booked (I'll tell you all about that later!), I feel justified to begin looking for a new bikini ;)
The first one is from ASOS, and second one is from Nelly. I personally prefer the first one, but I could get the whole purple set for just the price of the top, so I'm not so sure if that's worth it.. I'll sleep on that :)
Anyway, I just wanted to pop in and say a quick hello, because now I'm off to prepare dinner. Enjoy your Sunday. xx

New flats

Hi all, I hope you're having a wonderful weekend :)
I stumpled upon the best bargain I've found in quite some time when I popped into H&M this Friday, and I just have to tell (and show) you!

I've been hunting for new flats since spring, albeit slow, is approaching, and when I walked in and saw this campaign with 2 for 1 on shoes, I just knew I had to get these..

These two lovely pairs only cost me 80 DKK, which is around €10/£9!! Can you believe that? That is like €5 for a pair!!
I don't know if H&M has this campaign outside of Denmark, but if you live close or pass by a H&M, I would definitely pop in and check it out.

Have you met....

I'm sorry for being so absent lately and slacking on the blog, but the truth is that nothing interesting is happening lately, besides vacation planning for the summer (yay)! I went to a designer market with some friends last weekend, but it was so small and disappointing that I haven't really bothered to blog about it. We did go to a café afterwards where I had the best mocha cake I've ever tasted, so I tell you a little bit more about that.
Besides that I thought that some of you might not have Instagram, so I wanted to share some of the pictures here :) And if you do have and want to follow me, you can do that here.

Brownies

Happy Friday! I hope you have a great weekend planned ahead of you :)
Nothing much has been going on this week, except that I've been on a baking spree, haha. So I decided to share another great recipe with you guys, in case some of you might feel like baking this weekend. For some unknown reason I've been craving brownies for two weeks or so now, and since I've had such a thing for baking this week, I decided to give in to my cravings and bake those brownies!

If you have (or are getting, like me, again) a craving for these, fear not! All you need is:
140g (1 cup) all-purpose flour
1 tsp salt
180g (3/4 cup) butter
150g (1/3 pound) dark chocolate, at least 44%
200g (1 cup) sugar
1 tsp vanilla sugar
5 eggs


Ready? Okeydokey.. Start by melting the butter and chocolate using a double boiler (if you don't know how to, here's a great guide). Pour in half of the sugar, stir and add the vanilla sugar.

Get out another bowl and beat the eggs and add the other half of the sugar. Now slowly add the melted chocolate into the bowl and it should look something like this,

Ok, you're almost done! Last step before popping this into the oven is to add the flour and salt. Easy, right?

Now pour the batter into a baking pan and put it in the oven with 180C/360F for around 30-40 mins, depending on how soft and mushy you like your brownies.

Yummy blueberry muffins

So this weekend I popped up a picture on Instagram on how I spent my Saturday baking blueberry muffins, and they turned out so good that I thought I'd share the recipe with you guys!

Okay so for 15 yummy muffins you'll need:
150g (1/2 cup) butter
150g (3/4 cup) sugar 
3 eggs
240 g (2 cups) all-purpose flour 
3 tsp baking powder
2 tsp vanilla sugar
1 dl (1/3 cup) milk
100g (4 ounces) blueberries (or how few or many you'd like!)

This recipe is really easy and it's just so delicious. I guarantee you'll be a favorite if you bring this to friends' or work. So let's begin!

Start by mixing the butter and sugar into a bowl,

I like to use a knife to cut the butter up in little pieces which makes it easier to mix with the sugar.
Add the eggs one at a time while you stir and it should look like this..

Now sift the flour, baking powder, and vanilla sugar in the batter. Then add milk,

And last, bring on the blueberries! As you can see I used frozen ones, but of course fresh ones are fine as well :)

Now all you need to do is fill up your muffin forms - paper ones, silicone (which is what I use, as I can reuse them, and they don't eat up half of my muffins like paper ones do!) or whatever you have, and pop them in the middle shelf of the oven with 200C or 390F. Bake the muffins for around 15-20 mins, and then take them out and leave to cool for a bit..

.. and voilà! Yummy, delicious blueberry muffins ready to eat! (If you have roommates, be aware that several muffins might suddenly disappear mysteriously!)

New heels

Happy Monday, everyone!
I hope you've all had a lovely weekend! I certainly did, as I kick started my weekend by doing a lil' bit of shopping - what better way to start off a weekend, right? ;)

I got myself this lovely pair of low heels,

I've spent ages looking for a pair of black low heels and now I've found them! I just love low heels because they're so casual, subtle and non-tiring to walk around in. I'd love to be able to walk around in high heels all day, but my feet simply can't (I don't know how people and other bloggers do it, but kudos to them!) 


I found these shoes in Deichman, and I know some people aren't too fond of Graceland, as they find the brand cheap and low quality but in my experience I've only bought great quality shoes for great little prices which is my favorite combo :D I only had to give £13 for this pair and you can find them in beige here, nude here, and similiar in black here and here.

I quite like the beige ones too, so I might go check them out some time! 

I've found Graceland shoes to be true to their size. I usually use 36 (UK 3.5 / US 6) for heels which is also the size I got these in. They fit perfectly and I can't wait for the weather to get a bit warmer so I can pair these with a skirt or a dress! :)

Daniel Wellington

Happy Friday, everyone!
Remember the anniversary gift I talked about which I received a couple of days ago from my sweet boyfriend? If you follow me on Instagram you already know what it is, but in case you don't... it was a Daniel Wellington watch!

I had my eyes set on them for quite some time now, but luckily I didn't get it until now, as I otherwise wouldn't have gotten this beautiful new box! The old box was made out of carbon, which I didn't really fancy..

I got the St. Andrews Lady and the Classic Oxford wristband in rose gold. I couldn't choose between the two of them, but since the straps are interchangeable, I got both!

I was a bit unsure about the size of the watch, as my other watch is way smaller and lady-like.. My wrists are kind of tiny, so I was afraid this one might look a bit too overwhelming. Luckily, it didn't!

The design of the watch is so classic and timeless and I'm just so in love with the fact that I can change the straps whenever I want - it's like I got two watches but for the price tag of one! It goes with every outfit and has quickly turned into one of my favorite items.

I couldn't for the life of me take a picture that would do this beautiful watch justice! I tried inside, outside in the sunshine, God knows how many pictures I took... So these pictures will have to do for now, and hopefully better ones will come along in future posts :)

Motivation of the day


The weather has finally taken a turn for the better, and even though there's still some snow outside, the sun is finally shining. As you may know, I'm still down with a cold, but this morning I decided to work through it. As I'm typing this right now I'm sitting with Philip Kingsley's Elasticizer and Exfoliating Scalp Mask (which you can read about here) in my hair and googling motivational quotes after having just finished an hour's workout to Tracy Anderson's workout videos.
Yesterday I became interested in jump roping and after having found this video on YouTube. I think it's such a good way to workout and I'm definitely planning on buying myself a skipping rope soon! Although now I'm off to take a nice and relaxing shower with my shower playlist on.

Philip Kingsley

Hi guys!
I hope you've all had a lovely Easter with lots of chocolate. Sadly, I spent my Easter in bed as I'm down with a cold :(

Anyway, since I'm sick I've had lots of time to debate back and forth with myself about whether or not to make this post, as this topic is a little bit sensitive to me. I've been dealing with dandruff for quite some years now, which is unfortunate, especially as I have very dark hair. And what's even more unfortunate is that dandruff is more severe in winters, which is quite long up north in Denmark.. It makes me insecure and self conscious but I know that I'm not the only one. So I've decided to share what I believe to be the best dandruff treatment with you guys, hoping that it might help some of you dealing with the same problem :)

Now, I've consulted with my doctor, tried every home treatments/remedies Google could find me, but never anything with lasting results.. Until now!
A while back I stumbled upon Philip Kingsley. I've heard nothing but good things about their products around the web and from other bloggers, and when I saw that they had a product range especially dedicated to scalp problems I decided to give it a shot. Best decision. ever. Already after the first time I used it I felt the difference. My scalp felt much better and my hair looked shiny and healthy.

I've been using the shampoo and scalp toner for a few weeks now and my dandruff problem is practically gone! :D It's actually going so well that soon I'm planning on putting them aside and only use them once in a while or if the problem should come back to haunt me. So at the moment I'm checking out PK's other products and I've set my eyes on the Body Building shampoo and conditioner. I'll come back to you guys on that one :)
