Dinner at Jensen's Bøfhus

Last Friday when I met up with the three Korean girls I promised them that I'd introduce them to Jensen's Bøfhus, which is one of my favorite steakhouses here in Copenhagen!  The food is lovely and prices are low, so definitely good value for your money. The restaurant has a great atmosphere and the unlimited fries and sauce really brings it home for me! I went there last night with the girls and I always look that much forward to the food there that I starve myself all day.. It's really bad as I always end up eating way too much and feeling really uncomfortable afterwards, but it never stops me anyway. And of course I brought my beloved camera with me, so I thought I'd share a few pictures if you guys :)

The girls all got spareribs which is always a good choice and Jensen's Bøfhus is actually quite famous for making good ones!

I usually always go for steak and yesterday was no different. I got the Jensen's Favoritbøf with a nice whiskeysauce. I of course got a refill on both fries and sauce as usual ;)

And after the delicious dinner it was time for dessert - because you can always eat dessert, right? We talked about it and agreed that everyone has a second tummy that's just reserved for dessert and magically appears when the word 'dessert' is mentioned!
I always go for the all you can eat soft ice which is so, so good!

Across from me a beautiful and tasty chocolate mousse was served.

I'm so fond of this steakhouse that I recommend it to every foreigner I meet, so yes, if you'll be coming to visit Copenhagen, make sure to pay this restaurant a visit! :)
They have a few around Copenhagen and some outside the city as well. You can take a look at their website here. Just be sure to make a reservation beforehand as it can get quite busy sometimes, and nothing ruins a dinner night like a 30 min wait.

I hope you're all having a wonderful evening :)

Review: eyelash curlers

Eyelash curlers.. This is a beauty essential that's a must, in my humble opinion. Many people tend to overlook this tool and think that it might be very insignificant, which is okay if you've been blessed with naturally long and curly lashes. But being an Asian sadly means that I have the world's shortest, straightest eyelashes, which means that an eyelash curler is actually one of the most crucial things when it comes to a well-done eye makeup.

For many years now I've been sticking to my cheap £2.99 curler from H&M which I think is wonderful! But a few months back I began to wonder if there were any truth to all the hype about the Shu uemura eyelash curler, so I did a lot of research and read lots of reviews. One of the things that shocked me the most was the price difference between them, so after some more digging I decided to see for myself if there indeed is a difference between the curlers besides the price tag!

I bought the cheapest but well acclaimed curler from Eyes lips face for only £1.50 and the Shiseido one for a whopping £18!

Elf here and Shiseido here

Honestly, the one from elf was a huge disappointment! It doesn't suit my eye shape at all even though they claim on their website that "This innovative eyelash curler has a special curved design which angles to suit all eye shape". This is not true!! So if you're Asian, definitely stay clear from this one! The top is too "big", which made the corner bore into my skin, ouch! Because of that I couldn't really try it out, which was a shame.. But if you're not Asian, I encourage you to try it out based on all the positive reviews out there and for the price it's definitely worth a try, right?

As for the Shiseido one, I'm completely in love! I don't have to apply as much pressure as I did with my old H&M one and the curl really stays.

I got this result after using the Shiseido curler with two coats of one of my favorite mascaras of all time, the Lancôme Hypnôse, waterproof - of course!! It's brilliant, right? From my straight, short lashes to this.. I'm in love!

As you've probably noticed, this was my outfit from last Friday because I originally wanted to do the review then, but time ran away from me..

Anyway, I definitely recommend you to try this eyelash curler if you're not afraid of the price! If the price scares you off a bit, you can also try the one from H&M, which has been my lifesaver for a long, long time! :)

Have you tried any of these eyelash curlers and what did you think of them? Which eyelash curler do you use?

Getting ready for spring

The first signs of spring are finally beginning to show here up north, so naturally I've also begun my never ending search for pretty summer dresses and skirts. I'm especially fond of these because they are the best at giving an illusion of longer legs, yay!
I thought I'd share my two favorites with you guys, I hope you like them :) They're definitely at the very top of my wish list!

Also, I'm craving a really lovely pink nail polish.. So far I've been thinking about this one from Essie called Off the Shoulder. Do you guys have any suggestions?

Anyway, I'm off now to do some things before attending a game night later with some friends. I hope you're all having a wonderful Sunday <3

Burritos and girls' night

Last night I went to some friends' dorm where we made some delicious French onion soup and burritos! I met up with three Korean exchange students from my university who'd - to my surprise - chosen to study abroad in Denmark. Yes, crazy, right?
Anyway, we had a great night with tons of fun and I of course took my new camera with me, so I thought I'd share some pictures with you guys!

Cooking the soup and meat

A photo of me

Lookin' good, right?

And there you have it! Doesn't it make you all hungry for burritos now? ;) If yes, then read on and I'll share the recipe down below.

To satisfy 4 tummies you'll need:
4 - 5 wraps (the big ones!)
400-500 g of ground beef
Burrito/taco seasoning
1 - 2 onions (depending on how big of an onion lover you are)
Corn and any other vegetables of your choice (personally, I like carrots and peppers thrown in there too!)

Begin with turning on the oven and then start on preparing the meat. Throw in some onions and add the seasoning mix when the meat is nearly finished. Cook for a few minutes and start on the wraps.
Warm the wraps on both sides on a pan. When they're done fill them with meat, cheese and all your vegetables. Wrap them up and put them in the oven for a few minutes so they turn all crispy and voila - you're done!

Tip: if the burritos won't stay wrapped in the oven you can do as we did and cut a strip of baking paper and wrap it around them

What are your plans for the weekend? Going to try the burritos?

My skincare routine

I have always felt that if there's one thing you should prioritize beauty wise, it should be your skin. There are so many things out there which are replaceable, if you stain a shirt you can always get a new one, if you damage your hair it will grow out again (painfully slow, yes, but it will grow), but if you don't take care of your skin, it will show. Maybe not right away, but you can be sure that it will somewhere down the road.
This is why I like to take good care of my skin and why I don't mind spending a little extra on these products. Because I know that when I'll look into the mirror some 30 years from now, I'll thank myself for this decision.

Now, growing up my skin has never been a great friend of mine. Since I turned 13 the pimples just kept coming with no end. I began to clean my face twice a day and have since then been through countless of skincare products. Here I'll share my current products and what I think of them.

1. Clinique Liquid Facial Soap - Oily Skin Formula
clinique liquid facial soap

I've lost count of the many facial cleansers I've tried throughout the years but one I always seem to come back to is this one. When I don't know which cleanser to try out next, this is usually the one I'll find myself buying.
It's good at controlling my annoying, oily T-zone and it has helped a lot with the break outs. Since it's fragrance free it doesn't really have a scent, which is kind of a shame if you ask me. Other than that, it feels nice when applied and my skin feels fresh and clean afterwards which is a wonderful feeling after a long, hard day. All in all, I don't think you can ever go wrong with Clinique's liquid facial soap, so if you haven't tried it yet and are looking for a good cleanser, this one's definitely worth a try!

Overall: 4.5/5

2. Estee Lauder DayWear Advanced Multi-Protection Anti-Oxidant Creme
Estee Lauder DayWear Advanced Multi-Protection Anti-Oxidant Creme

I've been using this moisturizer for about two months now and I have to say that it's wonderful! It has a great consistency and a fresh smell of cucumber. As mentioned before, I have an oily T-zone, which I think this cream is great for as it's oil free and keeps the shine under control. The SPF is also a bonus, even though the sun hardly shows its' pretty face here way up north in Denmark. However, I know that there are other - and cheaper - creams out there which offer the same benefits as this one does, so if you're not a big spender when it comes to moisturizers, I'd go with something else. Otherwise, I'd definitely recommend you to give this one a go!
Overall: 4/5

3. Estee Lauder Idealist Even Skintone Illuminator
Estee Lauder Idealist Even Skintone Illuminator

I've always been very fond of Estee Lauder. I like their cleansers, moisturizers and so on, so when I saw this little bottle here back of a magazine I read, I just knew I had to try it. So I bought it after trying a mini bottle I got for free which I was really fond of. Boy, was that the worst £60 ever spent. The only positive thing to be said about this serum is the smell which I find to be a lovely subtle citrus scent. Beside that there were no differences to be spotted after having used almost the entire bottle. As a matter of fact, it would make my skin irritated and sensitive if I used it morning and evening. Because of that I only use this serum in the mornings as it works as a primer for applying my BB cream (and secretly also because I don't want to feel like I completely wasted my money!) Bottom line is that I advise against buying this serum unless you like to throw your money out of the window.
Overall: 1/5

4. Ole Henriksen Truth Serum - Collagen Booster
Ole Henriksen Truth Serum - Collagen Booster

As a Dane it's a must to try at least one Ole Henriksen product. Since I'm not able to use my Estee Lauder Idealist serum in the evenings, I decided to treat myself to this serum (along with a face cleanser and an eye cream) and I must say that Mr. Henriksen's products are really growing on me.
This little wonder has an divine fruity scent which makes me think of summer and good times. It's packed with vitamin C and antioxidants, keeping the skin protected while preventing further damage, and it also evens out skintone and help the appearance of aging - honestly, what more could you wish for in a serum?
The consistency is a bit more watery than other serums I've used and it feels a bit sticky when you apply it to your face which I had to get used to. But besides that it's a wonderful, wonderful product which I'm very satisfied with and would definitely buy again!
Overall: 5/5

Review: the best tweezers ever

I have always found tweezers to be one of the most crucial beauty tools to have, but unfortunately, they are also some of the hardest to find a good pair of. I've lost count of how much money I've spent on tweezers that either can't get a hold of the hair or just break them right off instead of pulling the roots with them.
I've found that price doesn't always reflect the quality when it comes to tweezers, which these tweezers from Eyes lips face will definitely prove. Priced at only £1.50 - yes, you read that right - these are truly the best tweezers I have and will ever use.

I must admit that I was a bit sceptical at first, taking all my never-used-again tweezers hidden away in a corner somewhere into consideration, but this thing really exceeded all my exceptations and more - plus the price just makes it a bargain!
These magnificent tweezers will pick up any, and I mean any, unwanted hair that you'd like to get rid off. Hell, I've even experienced it being able to pluck out hair I didn't even knew existed yet.

I would definitely recommend anyone to try these tweezers, even if you believe that you've already found the best one, because trust me, you'll be pleasantly surprised! You can find these tweezers here.

Tell me what you think and if you know of even better tweezers! xx

First post

Hi and welcome to my blog! My name is Ang and I'm 19 years old. I live in Copenhagen, Denmark where I also study. After having been an avid reader of lifestyle, make-up and fashion blogs I finally decided to make my own. I love the recipes, the pictures, the makeup tutorial/ reviews and the fashion but I realized that there was just one problem... let's be honest, as a student, I don't have the money for a Birkin bag or a pair of Christian Louboutin stilettos - sadly. So I decided to make my own blog which will include makeup, fashion and much more with a more "down-to-earth" feel to it. I hope you'll enjoy it!
